Blanka will sing “Solo” for Poland at Eurovision 2023. The 23-year-old singer and Top Model alum will fly the Polish flag in Liverpool this May.
Scroll down to read the “Solo” lyrics.
Poland at Eurovision 2023: Blanka with “Solo”
Blanka Stajkow, 23, is a Polish singer and model from Szczecin. She got her start in music as a child star, releasing her first single “Strong Enough” when she was just 13 years old. In 2021, she appeared on the Polish iteration of Top Model.
In February, Blanka competed in Tu bije serce Europy!as one of ten acts hoping to represent Poland at Eurovision in Liverpool. Blanka’s song “Solo” won the competition, scoring the maximum 12 points from the juries and ten points from the voting public.
Poland competes in Eurovision 2023 semi-final two on Thursday 11 May.
What do the “Solo” lyrics mean?
Blanka co-wrote “Solo” alongside Maciej Puchalski, Mikołaj Trybulec, Bartłomiej Rzeczycki, Marcin Górecki, Maria Broberg and Julia Sundberg.
“Solo” is a sensual summertime anthem about knowing your self-worth and finding power in independence. With lyrics like “I never let me down”, Blanka ditches a one-sided relationship and realises she’s better off alone, without somebody dragging her down.
Blanka — “Solo” lyrics (Poland Eurovision 2023)
Songwriters: Blanka Stajkow, Maciej Puchalski, Mikołaj Trybulec, Bartłomiej Rzeczycki, Marcin Górecki, Maria Broberg, Julia Sundberg
Baby
It’s kind of crazy
How else to phrase it?
With you I’ve lost my senses
Baby
What happened to ya?
I thought I knew ya
But now it’s time to face it
You’re hot and cold
High and you’re low
Messin’ with my mind
No, oh-oh, that’s not how it goes
So, let me spell it out
Now I’m better solo, solo
I never let me down, didi-down-down-down
Now I’m gonna show ya, show ya
Show you what it is you’re missing out
Now I’m better solo, solo
I never let me down, didi-down-down-down
Now I’m gonna show ya, show ya
How I be getting down, solo
Tell me
Now, was it worth it
Playin’ me dirty
But now who’s laughing, baby
Watch me
All eyes on me now
Bet you regret how
What goes around comes around
You’re hot and cold
High and you’re low
Messin’ with my mind
No, oh-oh, that’s not how it goes
So, let me spell it out
Now I’m better solo, solo
I never let me down, didi-down-down-down
Now I’m gonna show ya, show ya
Show you what it is you’re missing out
Now I’m better solo, solo
I never let me down, didi-down-down-down
Now I’m gonna show ya, show ya
How I be getting down, solo
No, no, I’m going solo
Yeah, ya better, better, watch me now
‘Cause I know how to let go
Gonna make it, make it on my own, whoa
Oh, no, I’m going solo
Yeah, ya better, better, watch me now
‘Cause I know how to let go
So, it’s clear to see I’m
Now I’m better solo, solo
I never let me down, didi-down-down-down
Now I’m gonna show ya, show ya
Show you what it is you’re missing out
Now I’m better solo, solo
I never let me down, didi-down-down-down
Now I’m gonna show ya, show ya
How I be getting down, solo

You are the Eurovision site. You should stand next to the Polish Eurovision sites that boycotted Blanka’s election to represent the country. And you still praise this weak song, are you serious? I’m disappointed.

”Honestly, this is a trainwreck with so much meme potential” This is the best description of it. It’s like The Ride, Beautiful Song, or Say Na Na Na. It’s brilliant, but *because* hardly anything actually works as it should. 😉

Not to continue to bash on this song but…how did it take 7 people to write this song?

Probably just one or two of them actually wrote it, but credited the rest of the team

Is it too late to send Gacek to Liverpool instead of Bejba? The vocals would be majorly improved, and he is a very cute, very handsome cat.

why is Wiwibloggs making an “article” about this now? Is this paid content? Would have been better journalism discussing the whole corruption scandal.

For the first question, does not every entry receive a lyrics post here?

I find this vaguely interesting when I think of the lyrics as being about the same thing that Cyndi Lauper’s “She Bop” is about.

“strong and independent”
Not quite, not when you can’t sing for your life and were handed the victory through corruption.

so what if she is friends with Edyta Gorniak’s son, and she didn’t choose her parents either
so because she is born rich, having a spoiled upbringing, she can’t be allowed to go have a music career and have fun? because even though she can’t sing that well, she does have lots of fun it seems, and she sells that music video well in terms of holiday vibes

I mean, even if it was rigged for her and she didn’t Ask for it, why won’t she ask TVP to release detailed voting results? Like everyone else had. She doesn’t want to make it public. It’s TVP’s way to deal with critique. Ignore accusations until people get bored of protesting. So nah, i’m not going to do what she wants

For some time, I even doubt you are being sarcastic, until I recall you do express your favour of the song. (That is totally fine.)
But, this is like apples and oranges.
You are talking about her enjoying the performance. Well, good for her.
But what Anna criticised is CORRUPTION. For your first paragraph, since you have literally acknowledged the corruption and the nepotism, even though you put it like a justification, well, I’d drop my case.

she brings a harmless summer bop, compared to what is more nepotism in the Switzerland song, i mean ok Remo is hands down one of this years best vocalists, but it has me cringing at the fact of a rich kid from a neutral country singing an anti-war message, almost similar as Michael Rice’s Bigger Than Us pretentious generic vibes i for that reason am glad Blanka here has a fun song, even if her vocals are a bit bad in places, but so were Natalia Gordienko’s in Sugar and she made it work with lots of backing vocals so…Read more »

When everyone was saying Birdy would represent the UK, all I could think of was how Blanka would look going on after a real artist.
If a person just wants to be famous there are now ways of doing that without polluting the arts. She didn’t need to be a singer, she should have gone for a reality “star”.

Or a model, or an influencer, or a business venture, or an art more fitted to any quality she might have, there’s plenty of options lol

I mean she will for sure. Not that i want it. 1. Semi 2 is weak af. 2. They’ll just try to hide her voice with backing vocals (like they did with Rafal) 3. Song itself is not THAT BAD, you will remember this “solo, solo” part. 4. No jury vote to drag her for weak vocals 5. UK voting in 2nd semi (as much as i hate to admit it, there will be some people voting her just because she’s Polish) 6. Ukraine voting in 2nd semi (same) 7. Technically she’s half Bulgarian so maybe she’ll get some of…Read more »
